We just caught this show on Netflix and are in love with it. It's a very original series from Australia about a female detective in 1920's Melbourne. Essie Davis as the main character Phryne Fisher is outstanding. The writing, acting, cinematography, costumes, sets.....are all phenomenal.
With all the great British and cable shows who watches the main broadcast networks anymore?
I loved it and binge-watched it on Netflix! Imagine a younger Miss Marple who has great 1920s flapper clothes and doesn't mind sleeping with the suspects, drives a Hispano-Suiza luxury motor car, and has an unrequited "thing" with the local detective. Great fun to watch! I understand there's a third season underway.
I tend to lose track of the time but I watched these two seasons a couple of years ago. Yes, it's top notch entertainment in a perfect place and time. The series continually lays tracks for reference in later episodes. I' also amused by the connection between Ms. Fisher an Jack Robinson... will they - won't they. Then Hugh and Dottie are an element that just seals congruity.
I hadn't realized there would be a season three but just looked at IMDB to see '2015' listed. I had given up hope some time ago but now looking forward to that season.
My understanding is that they began filming season 3 last October and production is still underway. Have not seen any broadcast dates. Here in the US we will likely have to wait awhile.
I love Miss Fisher (and her clothes,) but in binge watching it does get a little old that she's good at everything and she's never wrong.
I agree to a point but it is nice to see a strong female character.
