The closing credits list the characters in order of appearance. I've written them down and then rewatched to follow the list as the characters show up. It helps but I still can't figure out a lot of the minor characters.

I watched The 6 wives of Henry VIII decades ago as well as the series on the reign of Elizabeth. While this wasn't totally accurate, historically, it was interesting to see smaller details that were left out of the more sweeping storylines brought into play in this series.
There was something almost surreal about the makeup job that made Thomas Cromwell look like the actor had stepped out of the Holbein portrait. to actually know what someone who was born as a commoner in that time period looked like was so rare.
The complete Wolf Hall is currently running on Broadway. It will probably win the Tony for best play. Mark Rylance is one of my all time favorite actors.
