I started watching it this past weekend and now have two episodes to go, which I'll finish tonight. Sigh. I feel a sad song coming on. This has been such a joy to watch.
Nice to see others enjoying this show. I laughed so hard at some of the stories. I adore Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda together. They made me laugh in 9-5 so I wasn't too worried about that. This show just cracks me up. I watched the entire season last weekend and now I have nothing to make me laugh until next year. I really wish I'd stop doing that. Netflix is on the ball. I think they're going to continue making their own series, which is always good business sense but for people like me who don't want to wait a week before watching, it's terrific!
I enjoyed it, but I didn't love it. It was less of a comedy for me, and more of a dramedy. The first episode was pretty painful to watch.
And it seemed verrry stilted to me at the beginning, almost painfully so. But that happens a lot with a pilot and then it gets better later on, which this did. It still seems that way sometimes, like they're trying too hard to address certain real-life issues, or they try too hard to showcase the one-liners (for anyone who's ever watched The Three Stooges, it reminds me of when they pause on some punchline for you to read, a sign or something, and they hold it on camera for about 5 minutes longer than you needed. Kind of ruins the flow. Lol). Still watched the whole thing, though.

Who knew you could put yam lubricant on toast?
That occurred to me, too, while watching it. They do have great chemistry.

Yes, I enjoyed the later episodes much more.
How real was that scene was when Jane Fonda is taking off her makeup? Whew. Brutal.

^I appreciate such rare instances of letting the audience see how constructed & fabricated a person's "public" appearance really is.
And yes, plenty of shows may take a while to gel, so to speak-
Parks & Rec, the first several episodes, I was like "ho hum", but stuck with it bc. of the reviews that said "it picks up by season 2"-and it did.
