I was wondering: do Simon/Randy/Paula actually have the ability to decide (among the contestants they see) who goes on, and who doesn't, or is it all predecided, and they just act like it's their choice?

The show is not predecided.
A very good friend of mine auditioned, didin't make it through, but she said what you see on TV is generally what is happening at the auditions. There are edits & cut-outs, but that's only expected with reality television.
All the contestants are pre-screened, but they let the possible talent through, plus the really bad & funny for ratings, obviously.

Here is my question: Why does every guy on that show sing Fallsetta?

Has anyone ever seen Kathy Griffin's stand up on Bravo making fun of Paula? It's so freakin' hilarious! You can find it on You tube. Check it out!

Was a good episode tonight I thought, a lot of really talented singers, but no real surprises. I was worried about Syesha Mercado, with that hoarse throat, but she came through in the end.

This was by far the best Hollywood auditions that I've seen on A.I.
In my opinion the talent this year is really strong & I'm really excited about this season!!
I'm loving Josiah, the little homeless kid from Atlanta, I see great potential in him. Maybe not to everyone, but I certainly dig his style, but the guy needs a haircut!!

Simon can come to my house and "audition" me any time. Both him and Gordon Ramsey -- another acerbic yet sexy Brit.
