I was wondering the same thing. I play bass guitar and if there was any in that song they had a lot of effects on it. It really just sounded like a bass drum was playing the bass line.

I hear that Randy is a pretty good bassist. Too bad they couldn't have showed his talent more.

My take:

Micheal John: the hottie from Australia...but this was not a good performance. Yeck. But I'm sure he'll get through this week, only because of his looks.

Jason Castro: I thought it was great, but the judges hated it! I voted for him but I think he's at risk.

Luke Menard: Another hottie! His voice is good but the performance didn't do much for me. In all fairness, I was probably too busy staring at his face to hear him.

Robbie Carrico: Terrible. This rock music boy is in big trouble, because there's another rocker, David Cook, and David is way better.

Danny Noreiga: Good voice, good performance. But he looks a little like a girl to me. Maybe he's pulling a Tootsie.

David Hernandez: good voice, good performance.

Jason Yeager: yuck, yuck, yuck. Singing was bad, performance was bad. He's got to go this week.

Chikezie: pretty good voice and performance. I think he's safe.

David Cook: great voice and performance. Didn't like his comment towards Simon though; I think it is ridiculous when they get sassy with the judges. And David seems too old and too accomplished to indulge in that sort of behavior. Pull it together dude.

David Archulete: excellent. The kid can sing! He might as well just sit out the next few weeks while we weed out the bad ones.

I wish I was 17 again. This kid's voice just took my breath away. He really is a great talent and even if he doesn't win, he will have a great future.

It's like Randy would say: "It's about the Daves this season, Dawg!"

The only thing that I saw differently was David C's comment to Simon. I really didn't think it was that bad because it's true. It doesn't matter what Simon thinks and I felt like he was way off base about David C. However, I do think that overall when the judges are trying to be constructive, that the contestants should accept it like a pro. I personally like a smart guy, so I think Simon calling him wierd for the crosswords, etc. was rude and Simon didn't take David's comment very well either.
I really like Simon most of the time, but he seemed extremely moody last night and what the heck does he keep doing with his hand on the side of his face??

Good recap Christina001. Although I do disagree with some of what you said.

I liked Robbie's performance. It wasn't as good as last week but was good.

Danny is having gender issues. I have no problem with gay guys but why in the world do so many of them have to act so effeminate? He is silly and his attitude sucks. He can sing but he needs to stop trying to be a girl and focus on the singing. Although he is pretty which is weird to say but true

Chickeze - don't like him and fast forwarded through it. Don't know why but I don't like him.

Jason Yeager did ok. The skunk hair needs to go but he just sang it like the original which is why I didn't understand Simon's comments.

And I just don't get the whole way they are pimping David A. He did good but it was NOT the best vocal on that show ever. I'm not saying he isn't a good singer but I don't think he is very current. Just my take on it.
