I wondered why this has been a story on the Statesman's web page for the last week. I finally clicked to find out and it's set in Boise.
It's not filmed here, so I don't expect to see anything resembling the city but I'm going to switch over from The Voice for half an hour to watch it anyway. I like both Lowe and Savage and hope they wouldn't both agree to do a dud show.
Grinder was the name of his TV lawyer show that got cancelled after a long time. Now he's at loose ends and seems to want to continue being the "grinder" in real courtrooms, without being an actual lawyer.
I always liked Rob Lowe, and thought the show was good for a pilot; I'll watch again. And they should never have jettisoned him from those Direct TV ads.

Oh yeah he was a lot better than the sports stars they hired. Some of those are just cringeworthy!
Here's what I could find on a grinder, pertaining to the practice of law.
The person who made the satirical comment that a law practice is made up of Finders, Minders, and Grinders knows the game. The Finder brings in the client. The Minder keeps the client happy. The Grinder (see Herman Melville’s Bartleby the Scrivener) reads and writes, and never sees the client.
