Just did a major buy of Tom Baker Dr. Who DVD's......and I'm debating of carrying through the project with the other 6 (classic Docs) over the upcoming months.

Most of my Peter Davidson's are on VHS and my machines can't convert them in DVD's. I think, for the most part, the VHS surplus economy has ended and it's now time just to buy in DVD if possible.

Of course, as said before, I have a regionless DVD player, so I can shop around and go for lower prices or even for availability. Both "Dempsey & Makepeace" and "Judging Amy" were, at the time I bought them, only available in overseas format, but with that regionless player, so what? Though now, I may need to find a regionless Blu Ray; one or two items have shown up where that might be a less expensive (for the disk) option. It's not needed now, found other solutions, but there may be a need in the future.

Just bought it's always sunny in Philadelphia season 7, with plans to add 8-9-10 later on.

I also plan on buying The Office, The Complete Series ( US Version ) at some point.

I would like to add Seinfeld, but to be honest I am so burnt out on it. I've watched the re-runs 10-15 times over, at least.

I don't buy much TV on DVD because I can't stand owning just some seasons and not every season in the series because what's the point if you aren't going to buy them all? So it's quite an expense when I do buy a show and that's why I own so few. You can get some great deals on Ebay though! The Walking Dead season 5 was $34.99 at Walmart. Ebay? $12.99, and no it isn't fake or bootlegged, it;sthe real deal.

If TV show A was a great show for 2-3 seasons, but declined over the next 1-2 seasons before it ended then would I buy them on DVD? Also, the access to TV shows online has played a significant factor.

That's why I won't usually buy a show before it's completed it's run. Shows can "jump the shark".... get cancelled, etc and you end up with no closure. The one exception I've made is Walking Dead; It's obviously not getting cancelled anytime soon and before it gets to that point I think the creator would preserve it's legacy with a proper ending.

Shows like sitcoms are different as well. Most generally they don't have running story lines, so you can buy one or two seasons and not feel incomplete.
