^I'd see him pop up in an episode here or there of various Canadian shows, and recognize him as Lifeguard from Wiseguy

All sorts of intriguing people passed through the cast of Wiseguy which adds to the value in re-watching 25 yrs. later.

I remember Wiseguy - that was a really good show and I remember Mel Profitt and his sister Susan(?), funny I still remember the name. I wonder what happened to Ken Wahl who was (is) a really good actor, don't know why we haven't seen him in more movies, TV shows, etc.

A couple of scenes that creeped me out were when Sonny Steelgrave (Ray Sharkey) garrotted a man at his party and put his body on ice. Also, when psychopath neo-Nazi Calvin (Paul Guilfoyle) murdered a bunch of people to please Knox Pooley (Fred Thompson), who was just a con man.

"Wiseguy" was very interesting, but the ratings were never good. Not all of the story arcs were memorable, either. When Wahl left in 1990, the series fell apart. Wahl himself suffered a serious injury a couple of years later that brought his career to an end.

Wahl has been accused of fabricating details about his life. For example, was he born "Ken Wahl" or "Anthony Caldaretta"? Here is an article about him from 2003.

I don't have cable, so I don't get a lot of stations but we have a new one that is mostly about cops. Hill Street Blues is on there as is Wiseguy. I remember being very attracted to Ken Wahl at the time.

ken wahl now lives in seclusion and he helps veterans get service dogs in some manner . the article I read did not say how he does that but he has totally retired from acting . I remember I saw him once in a movie with a dear friend who is an actress and I wont mention her name and he had gained some significant weight . I hope he got that under control .

Great show and I watched it every week. Loved the Profit characters and Kevin Spacey was superb in the show. Lots of guest stars just starting out whom later became big stars. I think it’s true like someone mentioned that the show was ahead of its time.
