The writing is so so, at best. But the performances are fantastic.

And quite frankly (pun intended), the last two seasons were so horrible, Shameless became hard to watch. If I were to get Showtime now, it would mainly be to watch Billions. So far, it's the best thing I've seen Damian Lewis in.

I read a review that said Damian Lewis was 'horribly miscast' in Billions.

He was great in Keane and Homeland, and he's great in this.

Reviewers of dramatic writing are often people who couldn't get a job writing drama. I have no problem paying them exactly as much attention as they deserve.

Thanks, though, for Keane. I didn't know about that, and will be sure to watch it.

Definitely watch it. That's the movie that got him cast for Homeland. He gives an amazing performance.

I have to agree. Damian Lewis seems out of his element. Kind of like he's all dressed up with no where to go -- as in the script sucks. After Homeland he must feel like he's being punished having to do this kind of drivel. I like Paul Giamatti but he was horrendously bad too. Overacting to the extreme.

It was AWFUL. The first scene ***SPOILER ALERT*** with the cigarette burn and urinating on the guy was disgusting and unnecessary. Just gross and a pathetic attempt to be relevant and "sexy." The show feels dated already. Trendy super rich hipster guys dressing down in sweaters and khakis, but still whining about only making 7 million instead of 11 million. It's a bit much. Give me Ray Donovan, The Sopranos, Boardwalk Empire, but this was just crap.

One episode was enough. AWFUL. I won't watch another.

Oh and one more spoiler alert ****SPOILER ALERT *** the next episode opens with MORE unnecessary "daring" sex. Sex is great if it's in context and part of the story, but just for the sake of being "daring" or gross and graphic, it's pathetic. Seriously is the whole dominatrix, 50 shades of boring gray storyline speaks volumes to how terrible the storyline and script are.

I didn't care about ANY of the characters at all at the end of the first episode. The writing was horrible, like a daytime soap. Acting was even worse. I'd pull the plug on this sewage and let it circle the drain and go down now. Utter garbage.

No, I didn't. It only started. The second episode hasn't run yet

What did is read some of the critic's online reviews. They revealed information about some of the other episodes, specifically the upcoming opening of the second episode. I know you are TITtilated by the idea, but it's just bad writing and gratuitous.

If there's a story and some decent acting, I can tolerate some gratuitous sex, but there's not a show on TV, Netflix, Amazon, or anywhere that is enough to convince me that burning people with cigarettes or cigars and urinating on them is sexy or necessary for the story. It's still just cheap soft-core PORN trash, pandering to the lowest mental and sexual denominator (i.e.: The 50 Shades of Gray audience).

If you want porn, BDSM, urophilia (and no maybe worse) please enjoy.

I however don't care to watch that trash. And won't watch another episode EVER.

I agree. The first scene was just disgusting, nothing more. And I knew who it was when she was in her first scene because of her slight lisp.

Damian's acting is terrific, but the writing is terrible. He definitely shines. But that's not saying much when the show stinks.

I watched the second episode online before posting here. So save your (to say nothing of your posturing and indignation over an episode you haven't even seen).
