Poor Andy, every Sunday i watch his segment in disbelief and horror. Why, hasn't 60 Minutes let him go? His three minutes of mind numbing senseless babble is enough to make a deaf mute speak up and say, "Shut up already!!"
Does performance matter anymore? Are journalist allowed to have lifetime positions on CBS? Sometimes I think Andy is already deceased and they're just propping him up like a puppet and using old outakes to let him speak. Anyway, does anyone else find his segments useless, boring, and dislusional? A few weeks ago he was doing a segment on Umbrellas i'm eagerly awaiting "the voices in my head tell me to do things" segment and the "who is Andy Rooney and what the hell is 60 Minutes" segment. I highly doubt without the use of cue cards he knows he's Andy Rooney.
It doesn't matter if he sucks, has no actual talent and is suicide-inducing painful to listen to. He has lots of experience and that's all that really matters.

Funny, there was a thread on here about, if you've quite watching tv. The "news" has become a joke, they're all so arrogant and full of themselves, they're delusional.
They all sound so proud of themselves and how important they are...CBS News or CNN news. Ratings have been in decline for years and years. Real news has been replaced by infotainment and fluff. People have left in droves for real news on the internet. It's a big joke, but I don't think the anchors and execs have caught on. Andy Rooney babbles on, and we think its suppose to matter.
All these news people are caught in a time warp. Where they think the big 3 networks still matter.
For a laugh, Frank Caliendo does a great Rooney impression.
I use to like Andy Rooney years ago, he told a story about parents yelling at their kids at little league, I laughed so hard because it was true.
I don't enjoy him much anymore.
Yes-Andy should bow out gracefully and take his eyebrows with him. My husband hates when hes on-if nothing else I wish he'd retire just so I don't have to listen to my husband go on and on about him!!!

If CBS had lifetime contracts we would still be getting our news from Uncle Walter [Conkrite] wouldnt we?

You know my SO and I were just talking about this the other night. he always was a little out there in his segment, but that Umbrella thing was horrific.
But although the segment was worthless, I got quite a laugh out of Andy Rooney at the Superbowl. I didn't realize how truly old and decrepit he looked until he was out there amongst normal people!
By the way, you know he's going to die soon and then we're all going to hell for being so mean! That happened to me with ol' Walter Matthau- I mentioned one day he was looking crazy old and then the next day he was dead! Obviously I know I didn't kill him, but I sure did feel bad!
Industry double standard - name one female in news who could get away with looking the equivalent of years-dead troll? I would conveniently change the channel right before his segment came on because it was usually on right after I ate, and didn't want to lose my dinner.
