Watched it live back in 1983. That finale has been and continues to be one of the best of all time.

It was good in comparison to some.. But I didn't think it was great. It tied up the loose ends.. I thought the "Hawkeye snaps" thing would have been better off happening elsewhere in the series.

I'd take it over any of the Star Trek final episodes (All of which were rather bad, IMO) and Seinfeld.. But.. There were better ones.. Newhart, Mary Tyler Moore and Breaking Bad to name a few.

M*A*S*H is my all time favorite show. I have that episode on DVD. I watch it periodically.

I always cry with Hawkeye as he is in session with Sydney, realizing it was an actual baby the girl was strangling and not a chicken.

Very moving episode for me.

BTW, love the Newhart series finale also. Thw whole show was just a dream after falling asleep on Japanese food. LOL
