Maybe it's a generational thing, or maybe a certain gene is required in the cerebral cortex, but I do not and have never understood the devoted love for THE GOLDEN GIRLS. I've watched it a few times. It's cute. It's chuckle-worthy. But one of the greatest sitcoms of all time? I don't see it.
but there are lots of hour-long programs I'd love to see again, and which aren't on the super-vintage channels yet, such as St. Elsewhere, I'll Fly Away, Homicide: Life on the Street, A Year in the Life, LA Law, thirtysomething.
I like L.A. Law too. I haven't seen it on TV in years but you can watch full episodes on Youtube.

I have liked this show since the 80's. It's that combination of sarcasm and innuendo that makes it so funny. I guess there is just something inherently funny about 4 old ladies.
The same can be said for the Cosby Show. With all his allegations put aside, this is one of those shows that is always funny no matter how many times you watch. I recently bought the entire series on DVD for about $25.
1: Watch once - Dexter, Breaking Bad, most competition style reality TV, Walking Dead-as much as I love it, I've only seen each episode once
2: Watch several times -Mad Men, Law & Orders (all of them), Criminal Minds, Game of Thrones
3: Watch again & again- Lost, How I met your mother, Friends, Seinfeld
Several times: Cheers, Criminal Minds, Golden Girls
Over & over: Bonanza and my favorite drama that aired from 1963 until 1967 ... yes, The Fugitive. I could not imagine anybody capable of draining more empathy from a viewer than David Janssen did.
2. Watched a few times - cant think of anything right now
3. Watch over and over - Seinfeld, Soap, The Beverly Hillbillies, Freaks and Geeks, and my current favorite and one of the best dramas to grace the screen, Friday Night Lights. That show was one I had no interest in watching when it aired because I figured it was high school football, but turns out to be one of the most realistic portrayals of a married couple of all times, and the stories of all the characters were so compelling. I can't praise it enough.
Over the years, the ones I watched over and over were, Cheers, Murphy Brown, MASH, Northern Exposure. then, further back, I will still watch shows like Gunsmoke, Leave it to Beaver, That Girl, Mary Tyler Moore Show, McMillan and Wife, Dick Van Dyke Show, etc, just for the nostalgia.
