I watched the first episode last night and I thought it was pretty good. They did cram a lot of story into the episode so we will see how things pan out from here. Being a fan of the comics and Robert Kirkman, I wonder if it will go the path of Walking Dead? Will it follow the comics VERY loosely and have it's own storyline, or will it try and stick to the books?
I read the graphic novel last week. Wasn't terribly impressed.
Does the TV show improve on the graphic novel, or is it pretty much the same?
Considering I've only seen the first episode, this one episode did follow the book pretty well. Here is the thing. Robert Kirkman also does The Walking Dead. The first episode of WD was almost verbatim to the books. That was where it ended. going forward, there were hints here and there from the books, but for the most part, the storyline was completely different. I suspect Robert might go this route with Outcast. Only time will tell though.
And for those of us who refuse (read: can't afford) to purchase another service (Cinemax), HBO sucks for teasing us with just the first episode!
Try calling your cable company. They are usually pretty good at giving away these premium channels, even for just a few months. I'm getting HBO free for 2 years. I get Cinemax thrown in as part of my package.
They generally do it once or twice but after a while its pay or live without. And that makes sense. These networks aren't giving their work away any more than you or I work for our boss without a paycheck.
Glad for my relative's sake that you guys are watching it - it was way too horrorish/violent/nauseating for me.
