Interesting theory, but not IMHO, completely proved by examples of some of the NBC programming that has aired since 2000.

I'm thinking of shows like "L&O: Criminal Intent,", "30 Rock," "Community," "Friday Night Lights," "Hannibal," "The Blacklist," "Grimm" and one of my all time favorites "Constantine."

Several others spanned pre-post 2000 and clearly had the support of the "powers-that-be" for much of their runs. For example "West Wing," "Law & Order" and "L&O: SVU."

I don't think that NBC's track record is any better or worse overall than that of any other network and as a matter of fact, may actually rank higher in quality programming post-2000 than the other networks.
Personal opinion, of course.
