Are there any tv shows you watch religiously and enjoy where you cannot stand the main character?
For me it is The Walking Dead and Gilmore Girls.
These are two shows I enjoy quite a bit and really like secondary characters over the main characters. I always get the typical " why do you watch if you don't even like the main character?" question.
The Walking Dead: Rick is just hands down the worst character ever (IMHO). I haven't liked his character since season 2 or 3 of the series. Rick to me makes the worst decisions, is not stable and just extremely unlikable. He is my least favorite on the show.
The Gilmore Girls: Lorelei Gilmore is quirky and funny, but I absolutely cannot stand the way she treats people and the men she dates. Every time she starts to show interest in a man, I just wanna scream to them "RUN the other way!". Especially Luke Danes. I can't help but find her obnoxious and annoying. She is my least favorite on the show.

Actually, I hate all of the characters of the show "Animal Kingdom"' but keep watching it hoping the whole family gets caught and sent downe the river.mof course, then the show would have to end. The only character I liked at all was Catherine, and she got killed off. Oh, and I like the Challenger that Baz drives.
I hate, with a passion, John-Boy Walton of The Waltons. He's obnoxious, disrespectful, and he yells at everyone. John should have knocked him out on nearly episode.

Well, is it 'dislike' or 'cannot stand'?
Dislike? Sure. I mean, sometimes we're not supposed to like the main character. Tony Soprano. Walter White. Don Draper. I mean, they all have compelling qualities about them, but they're also all deeply flawed men who routinely do repugnant things. But that's sort of the point of compelling fiction.
Cannot stand? No. Of course not. Life's too short.
Not exactly a main character but they keep pushing .........Major Crimes was a pretty good show till they made Rusty a primary character. Really do not like how he whines his way through scenes.
I have tried and tried to like Claire Fraser from "Outlander" but I just can't stand her. She is so quick to unthinkingly put herself into situations that create hazards for herself and those around her, and still Jamie acts like she's perfect. SHE'S NOT PERFECT, JAMIE!!!
I hate the Raj and Howard characters on "The Big Bang Theory" because they are vain, shallow and lazy and why there are two such similar characters on one show is beyond me.
