Vera Farmiga is absolutely brilliant as Norman Bates mother, Norma. She delivers a performance collectively that is as good as anything Meryl Streep has done. In fact she IS another Meryl Streep, at least in this. I haven't seen such intensity in a suffering mother since Sophie's Choice. There are three seasons available now (30 episodes) and A&E just signed contracts for 2 more seasons. The writing is first rate, the acting is first rate, the story lines are believable and Néstor Gastón Carbonell who plays Sheriff Alex Romero looks so much like Anthony Perkins I had to do look up his date of death to make sure A&E hadn't pulled a "Fear the Walking Dead" and brought him back to life to play this part.

Q Is it me or does the cop on Bates Motel look like Anthony Perkins?

A I think that he looks just like Norman from the original Pyscho.

I'm a few episodes into season 2. This show is surprisingly addictive. Really good to the point it almost forces you to binge it. I'm trying to watch it slowly to enjoy it, but it's hard not to binge lol.

I loved this show. I was more than a little dubious than anyone would be able to pull off a "modern" remake of PSYCHO, but this show did it.

Vera Farmiga starts as the star of the show but by the end it’s clear that Freddie Highmore is the real deal star actor. The final season scenes with Vera and him are spectacular.

I watched this when it ran. It is an amazing show. You can see how they stalled but I thought the end was a perfect ending. I loved that they added a brother for Norman and Dylan was a great character.

Freddie Highmore is amazing as Norman Bates. You really believe the actor is crazy in real life. He's a very good actor.
