They only had holiday breaks from what I remember, not these months long breaks. So now they show in the fall, cut off at winter and return in the spring. Yuck! Way too long

The last couple episodes have been good and I'm finally getting into it.

Spoiler
I really hope the Chief of Staff isn't involved with the capital bombing. I really like him and the girl (can't remember the character's name) as a couple.

It depends on the show/network. Sometimes, the network has so much faith in the writers/big stars that they will order a whole season...other times, they only order half a season and kinda see how things go.

There is a lot more variation these days than when I live in LA 15 years ago, but they usually begin filming the start of seasons in late summer so they are filming several weeks in advance (of airing) to give time for the post production folks (editing, special effects, music, etc.) so they probably have another 3 or so already in the can, ready to go. They always took a month+ off of filming around the holidays but these days, the networks have started spacing out the period of filming making the hiatus much longer. I think it has more to do with ratings and knowing people aren't watching as much TV around the holidays, as well as giving new mid-season shows a try to see where they can place them in the regular lineup.

One of these days a show like this might do the world some good and come to the end of it with a reveal that the bad guys are Scientologists.

It appears Episode 11 airs January 2017.

The entire series is said to be 22 episodes.

Code Black only has a 16-episode order so far this season, up from 13.

No they are not.

This series did not start that way...

One randomly selected reference: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cliffo...Dog_(TV_series)

Not going to debate it.

10 Episodes Is the New 13 (Was the New 22) looks like shows used to have 22 episodes, now they're anywhere from 10 to 16.

I then googled Designated Survivor episodes season 1, the link below is showing me there's a total of 13 episodes. Really hope they add more then that.
