Chuck did not punish Kim, Howard did. Howard continued the punishment after Kim got Mesa Verde. Chuck interceded and got Howard to allow Kim to have her office back, but Howard was still pissed.
Yeah there's no doubt that Chuck wants Jimmy out of the law business, by any means necessary. I don't agree that Chuck holds no ill will towards Kim. He's punished her before for no reason but because she was friends with Jimmy. That's why she worked so hard to bring MV to HHM, while she was stuck down in the stacks for her punishment. Kim has a soft spot for Jimmy and even though she may not like some of the stuff he does she either forgives him for it or looks the other way, Chuck knows that and it burns him up.
There has to be a reason why she drops out of sight, I was simply bringing up 'what ifs' in why she was never around, or mentioned, during BB
Wasn't there a scene in BB where Saul went a little nuts telling Walt or someone "These are not people you mess with" or something in reference to Gus?
Perhaps Gus gets to Kim? But.. I think we'd see a broken Jimmy if that were the case. Just a thought.. Even I don't place much value in it. I think she leaves the area of her own volition.

Not only that, but Saul actually tried to talk Walt into having Badger killed. So the Saul we meet in BB is definitely much more of a monster than we've seen so far in BCS.

Badger? Did he do that when he was picked up for selling and they did the 'professional prisoner' thing? wow.. I don't remember that, though, I don't doubt you're right. I do, of course, remember the "Belize" comments about Jesse but I didn't remember it about Badger.

He did. Although to be fair it was in a moment of desperate panic, trying to save his own skin.
With the bribe turned down, Jesse and Walt have to play hardball, and that night they abduct Saul Goodman, drive him out into the desert, then get him on his knees in front of an open grave. Goodman panics, begins pleading for his life in Spanish, saying he's a friend to the Cartel and it's Ignacio that they want. He's obviously relieved when they reveal that they have no idea what he's going on about, and Goodman soon recognizes Walt by his cough. Goodman gets them to put him on "retainer" and gives them advice about how to deal with the Badger situation. When Jesse vetoes, (multiple times) the notion of simply killing Badger to keep him silent, Goodman suggests an audacious scheme instead: have Badger appear to give up Heisenberg, with the faux Heisenberg actually being Jimmy "In-'N-Out", an associate of Goodman's who takes the fall for other peoples' crimes, ("The outside world hasn't been too kind to Jimmy") thus springing Badger and getting police and DEA attention off Jesse and Walt. And Saul can arrange all this for a mere $80,000, or nearly all of the profits that Walt and Jesse were counting earlier in the episode.
Saul didn't try to talk Walt & Jesse into having Badger killed. Rather, when Walt & Jesse put on masks and took Saul to the desert, there was some discussion and Saul said "Hey guys, if a mosquito bites you, why not swat it? You don't kill the mosquito's lawyer."......something to that effect.''
OTOH, Saul did suggest sending Hank and also Jesse "to Belize". Walt told Saul to shut up or he'd send HIM to Belize.
I am really liking these training videos! Did anyone notice the book that was in the trash can when Gus (as a cartoon character) looked inside it? It was the book that Gale had given Walter White of poems by Walt Whitman.

When Saul suggested getting rid of Jesse after he had gone ballistic and almost burned down Walt's house, he was comparing Jesse with "Old Yeller" in the movie of the same name. Walt made a comment about how Saul is just full of colorful metaphors about how to get rid of people, and said that was off the table where Jesse was concerned and he didn't want to hear it brought up again.
manyroads,
YES! I saw "Leaves of Grass" in the trash can.
The training videos are great, excellent animation. In the first one Gus adjusted his tie just as he did before he died. In the cleanliness video there was obviously a live person in the red bag. Did you see Gus's calendar? "Cynthia's birthday" (she was his manager) and there was a notation about the DEA Fun Run.
Next week: Shipping & Receiving (hmmmmmmm.....)
btw yeah ..... now I remember the Old Yeller reference re: Jesse.
Belize was re: Hank, IIRC
Saul also told Walt in BB that they should rethink options when Jesse was being a problem. So yea, I would say he didn't think much of knocking someone off if need be.
I wonder how Francesca became the cynical almost rude receptionist she is in BB, because now she's friendly and efficient
