I watched the entire first season now, and I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised by what Netflix did with the show. I was still fairly young when the original show aired, and comparing the remake with that one, the original seems so simple and campy now. I have to say that I do miss the Jonathan Harris remarks made toward the Robot, and his trademark "Oh, the pain, the pain" and "Never fear, Smith is here!".
What I don't understand in the new show is why Will or any of the Robinsons didn't seem to make much effort in learning more about the Robot. Yes, Will saw the alien ship that had crashed, but no one tried to find out what it was doing there in the first place or where it had come from. The Robot can apparently understand the English language (at least it seems that way to me), but why are his vocalizations limited to "Danger Will Robinson" or "Danger Dr. Smith"? How is the Robot able to rejoin its parts on its own? Why are none of the Robinsons curious about any of this?
Finished watching Season One last night. I really like this show, will continue to watch and the new Dr Smith is really really reminds me of my exwife creepy.
Interesting show. Love the characters and the way the storyline is unfolding. It is the rare case where the newer version is better than the original. And I see that its renewed for season 2!
It is the rare case where the newer version is better than the original. . .
I personally agree, but that can be subjective. Because a lot of people like the new Hawaii Five-0, but I could never get into it because I was used to the original stone-faced McGarret.
I just finished The Crown, I'm in the Middle of the final season of The Man in the High Castle, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is out tomorrow and The Expanse next week......and now Lost in Space in a few weeks too?
Lost in Space Season 2 is streaming on Netflix. Watched about 5 episodes last night, very well done. Really enjoying this show. The book title was great, Dons comment "oh that's a good title" was pretty funny.
I know this show is supposed to appeal to little kids, but the last second saves are getting ridiculous.
