I have just finished the first two episodes. It is a totally new universe and aesthetics. That is for sure. I will give it a 4/6 for now.

Its like a mish mosh of the coherent parts of lynches best films. I am in love with the direction so far.. The NYC shots were mind blowing.

I have a little home theater where I sit in the dark about 12 feet from a 10 foot screen and the NYC shots were absolutely spectacular....I don't remember seeing anything like it before.

The cinematography throughout was great.

You must have really enjoyed that glass box scene then?

We watched it and were mesmerized, as expected! We didn't re-watch the original series, so we're just relying on our fuzzy memories of what went on, but that was sufficient to have fun watching the first new episode last night.

Kyle has acquired a really interesting face over the years. I didn't think he'd have such a commanding presence. Looking forward to episode #2.

Interesting the love you all are giving the re-boot. I thought epis 1&2 were very much like a student film - trying WAY too hard to be cool and deep. Very German arty filmy. I thought it was just silly and puerile. Such a disappointment!

I did. I thought the beginning was very slow and drawn out, at the same time should have expected that. I think part of the draw of the show is waiting for familiar characters (for us old timers) to show up.

I have to agree. I really like the aesthetics in the series and FWwM, but The Return look messy and amateurish. I am not a fan of CGI in the first place, but bad data animation (like some of the scenes in the Black Lodge) is just visual pollution in my eyes. The opening of episode three was cool and artsy, but for me it did not fit the TP universe.
