did you miss the part where they were discussing that and FH's charecters husband said no cause she had stolen money from that very company before so apparently she had a job with someone in the family and she stole money from them ...that is why they wont give her a job picking .
Yes, I heard that. I interpreted it as Felicity Huffman trying to get her sister an office job. Of course you wouldn't trust her for that. But how much damage can she do by picking tomatoes? I saw it as a subtle way of saying that those type of jobs were only for the lowly Mexicans. Even though the sister was a druggie, she was considered too good to do such work.

I think maybe if they did put her to picking tomatoes it might humble her some and make her know what it is like to earn a dollar . I think it would be good to put convicts and druggies out there and let them sweat it out and learn how to earn a dollar . I think some people would rather be in jail you are right there . Sometimes junkies think they are too good to pick tomatoes and scrub toilets ...
Plus the husband wouldn't give her a "job" but he was willing to write her a check. It never dawned on them to put her out in fields. Yet, they were desperate for workers.
Wow did anyone watch episode 2 yet ? I guess FHs character and her husband don't have such a good marriage after all . A lot he does not share with her at all . Then the fire , I'm glad she went out to see it and maybe her husband should go out and see it or maybe he already has seen something like that cause in the previews the BIL to fhs character says it has happened before . Now we know why the Mexican older guy is really there , he is looking for his son . This show is full of twists and turns I really like it .
So far, this season isn't holding my interest. Granted, the first two seasons really packed in a lot. It's hard to top that, but I feel like they've taken three episodes now to cover what they have previously done in one. I hope the show doesn't lose its footing.

This season didn't "hook" me in the first episode as the other two did. It's kind of been luke warm. It looks like FH's character is going to become enlightened to the plight of the workers, but she'll probably pay a steep price. I know in last season's show, we got the point of the show (the rape at the party) right way, and it was the fallout that we saw for the rest of the season. We haven't had a hook this season, other than there are Mexican pickers in North Carolina living in sub-human conditions. There are several sub-plots like sex trafficking, a missing son, drugs and horrific mistreatment of the pickers, but not one stand-out incident that will be explored for the rest of the season. Or, maybe I'm missing something....which is always possible.
after this latest episode I wanted to just reach across that table and smack laurie ann so hard . Then the second thing I wanted felicity huffmans character to do was slap that husband of hers with a divorce and make that whole family pay for it .
