This thread explains why there are info-mercials and channels selling slap chop and other crap. Who has time to watch someone else live a fake life.
Probably the same kind of people who have time to post in the TV forum of the Entertainment forum.
And probably also the same kind of people who have made 31,353 forum posts.

First amendment protects citizens from government actions to stifle free speech.
There is no such thing as free speech as an employee of an organization and employees and contractors and everyone affiliated (even highly paid actors) are held to contracts that have specific rules about behavior, anti-harassment policies, morals clauses and various other things.
So while the government won't go after someone because of their rude, hateful opinions, a person spewing things online that is considered reprehensible most certainly can (and will) be negatively affected and held accountable by organizations they are employed by or are a part of.
Never watched either of the shows. Roseanne Barr was the mainstream name that I remember coming up.
Her co-actors garnered more work and prestige than Roseanne after the initial run. Laurie Metcalf has appeared very successfully on Broadway, as well as films and TV shows. John Goodman is like in every major movie. He's much more successful than Roseanne. They were doing her a favor by doing her show. They will all be fine. It's the crew that will suffer. They got their hopes up that they would have steady work. Something not easily come by in television and now they are unemployed. While I loved the new show, her remarks were horribly racist and disgusting. More than just poor taste and shock comedy.
