Apparently Amazon is warring with Google, and in their battle to not provide content, Amazon made some changes that keeps many Samsung or LG TVs from getting streaming. The App works, but the screen stays blank.
In the link above, from September, it explains it better, and there is a link to Amazon's page that lists compatible devices. If your TV model isn't listed then that is why you aren't getting it. Fortunately for us, we could get it on our BluRay player.

Thanks for the notification. I just re-upped my Prime subscription, and was looking forward to watching Bosch and the new Matt Bomer show on my TV instead of my computer. So I called Amazon, and they told me which Roku device to order AND gave me a $20 credit towards the purchase. I wouldn't have known if you hadn't posted this thread.
That article is from 2015. It still works from my phone to my appletv, but it would not surprise me if they pulled the plug someday (that would be time to quit prime, I think).
I was just watching season 4-2 of Vikings last week and it went out on me. I found that link in a current discussion somewhere. We had Prime because we order a lot of stuff from Amazon, before I started using the video streaming.
It just takes a little more clicking to get where I want and the interface is quite different using the BluRay.
Just checked the list, it will work on my older 46" Sony but the new 55" UHD Sony is not listed. I no longer have Amazon Prime; however, I would be furious if I had it and it did not work on a Sony TV I Purchased from Amazon.

So the list is old. From 2015.
And if you go to the new Samsung and Sony tvs, amazon is on there.
AND there are reviewers specifically talking about using it.
So...is this super old news that no longer applies?

The Samsung 55inch curved screen that stopped working ls less than a year old. They've changed something that has eliminated some units from working. about a week and a half ago.
The information in the link is still helpful today. It takes you to the Amazon page that is current.
My Samsung (2014 model I think) still works. I hope it continues to. So much easier to navigate than the blue-ray player.
