Season finale was kind of a let down, but overall I like this series.

Let down? Wow....best episode by far and a terrific season finale. This one actually moved me emotionally in ways a terrific movie does. An experience getting far more infrequent as time marches on.

I will admit to a twinge of disappointment at the apparent kibosh on the renewed relationship between Ed and Kelly. But something tells me that's only to whet our appetite for future flames where there's still plenty of spark.

I gotta say I'm hooked now on this show, past warts and all.

I thought this was the best show so far, and I don't think it was a re-hash of any other Star Trek or other show's plot. Only thing is:

Spoiler
Imagine sticking around for a few months to see what technology they could learn. Humankind could advance extremely fast.

It was basically a remake of a Star Trek: Voyager episode. Season 6, episode 12 "Blink of an Eye".

Yuppers and the episode a week before was a remake of a Star Trek Voyager episode from season 1 episode 3 Parallax.

Am I the only one who wants to know when the court martial happens?

Did Ed not flat out disobey a direct order from the Admiral by going back to the planet? "Oh, but it all worked out in the end".. No. Sloppy writing there, IMO.

And, I'll throw in another piece of the puzzle.. It had elements of the TNG episode "Lessons" where Picard had a romantic relationship with a crewmember.

Now, even with the above.. Decent episode. I'm not gushing as much as others about it, but it was entertaining. I thought Pria was the best episode of the run.

Other than the fact that Kelly becomes "The Picard" to a culturally contaminated pre-industrial society.

I guess I was wrong according to some posters here. I was never that big a watcher of Voyager or DS9, so some plots may have escaped me. Still, I believe it was the best Orville show so far.

Not sure what TNG show you reference here, but didn't the people at the end, mention that they would have gotten there eventually, whether Kelly had been there or not? Think about what we have now that was first displayed as Sci Fi on the first Star Trek series. Doors that open as you approach them? Nobody came from outer space to give us the idea, as far as I know.
