Except it isn't. Martin would be the first to tell you it was very heavily based on the Middle Ages in general and the War of the Roses specifically. Because it is Fantasy, Martin has freely taken inspiration from other areas, but saying GAME OF THRONES is not a medieval world is like saying that THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN is not a Western.

To be honest, I don't like Vikings. I watched the first season and part of the second season. I really wanted to like it, but I couldn't. The story is interesting and I like the characters. The intro is awful, but that's not why I stopped watching it. I'm not sure why, maybe it's just too slow. GOT is in my top 2-3 tv shows ever.

Now that I've gotten far into the series of Game of Thrones, just finished the 5th season, I have to say it's probably the best series I've ever watched. The casting has been phenomenal, even actors in smaller roles. Several storylines going at the same time and they all are very good. Some I would have liked to seen played out differently but since I'm not one of the writers I have to sit back and enjoy the writing of others.

Vikings is a series I really liked partway through the 2nd season. Then I was unable to watch it for about a year. When I finally had a chance to pick it back up I no longer liked it. Think it started sometime after they invaded England that I lost interest. I may try to find where I left off and give it another chance. Problem is I don't even have time for other shows I like.

Both are great shows.
But GOT is by far the best for me.

Vikings is OK, the writing is no where near the level of GoT. My main issue has been all the personal drama, high maintenance, emo whining conflict.

These are VIKINGS dammit!

I am a retiring maker of medieval armour of 33 years. I prefer GoT because the armour is much more historically accurate than Vikings.

Now you have me curious... hobby or profession? And who was your market?

Regardless, what an interesting skill!

Impressive! Thanks for sending it.

So in general, what are your thoughts on the armour used on Game of Thrones?
