Okay, totally had no idea the series was based on a book! Well, since I haven't read them, I LOVE Titus in the lead role. He has a depth to him in that part, but I know what you mean.
Even if you don't read the Bosch books by Connelly, READ ANYTHING he writes. He's fantastic.

Same here: no clue about the Bosch books before the series. Now, thanks to the series, I have read all of them and have started the Lincoln Lawyer series. My sister is into detective novels and now we have that in common as it wasn't a genre I knew anything about. She manages to find some terrific material.
But Bosch wasn't a series she knew at all and she said Titus wasn't how she imagined him either. Interesting. She has also read all the Bosch books with the latest pre-ordered for October.
I'm reluctant to watch it because I've liked the books so much.
Adaptions can rarely do well and never it seems for very long.
I hope I'm wrong.
I had that sentiment about another show, but ended up being pleasantly surprised. I think you will be too if you give Bosch a chance! Just watch the first two seasons, if you hate it....I'll let you off the hook. LOL.

I have read every book, many twice and I try to watch Bosch but just can't get into it. I loved Harry but the guy who plays him just doesn't do it for me and I HATE sitting there watching somebody chase a crook. I want Harry's thoughts and how he works things out, not physical stuff.

You are
I have read all the books and some are better than others
I find the series well done--not exactly parallel to the novels but quality work
Wellaver is not the physical size that Harry Bosch really requires but he has the personal force/honesty that Bosch emanates
The first season I thought was less than successful because of the emphasis on the female lead
I don't know if they thought was compensation for not having Harry's ex wife but they remedied that in S2
Looking forward to S3
