Salvation premieres tonight (7/12) at 9pm Eastern on CBS.

Haven't decided whether I'll watch live, or record and watch later. Anyone else plan to watch?

I have Dish so the Prime Time Anytime feature will auto record. I'll watch one episode and go from there. CBS does produce some decent shows.

Well, done. And great cast. Believable that gov't is lying!
Not believable there are so many handsome men in one room...and brilliant.

I had planned on watching it because it looked a little different until I read on the online TV guide about the government conspiracies. That changed my mind. Frankly, my dear, I'm sick of shows with the mysterious government conspiracy.

I watched it. It's a typical CBS summer series. All in all, I found it mostly stupid. No need to watch any more.

Too much fake drama, guy falls in love with a girl he just met AND he just discovered a planet killer asteroid, govt big-shot having affair with underling, yada yada.

Here's the hardest part for me to swallow about many of these apocalypse shows, and the reason so few are fun to watch: The end of the world is coming, and they manage to keep the secret among a handful of people. No one leaks.

Yeah right.

Me too.

I think that one no name reporter chick is going to find out what's up and break the story. I don't think they will be able to hide it much longer. If it's by Jupiter others will start finding it, I would hope.

My biggest issue is after the Earth is saved, or destroyed, they need to end the show. I hate when shows are dragged out.

This is part of the reason I won't watch (in addition to the fact I thought it wasn't very good). CBS has a history of taking a decent summer plot, and if it's successful, adding another season when good writing says it should come to a conclusion.

If they would guarantee it's a mini-series, I might watch. But they won't of course. So if it's bad, it dies, if it's even a moderate success, they add another season, which makes a decent story get stretched out too long. And then when they DO cancel it, we're often left with unresolved issues.

Under The Dome, Extant, Zoo and more. All stretched out beyond good writing, and often beyond the story it's based on.

I've learned, no more CBS summer series.
