I loved the opening, at first I thought it was a flash back and then it hit me. Very rewarding!
I loved the scene with Arya and the soliders. I was so apprehensive about that scene...usually when things are set up like that it ALWAYS ends up badly.
I loved that Bran made it to the wall.
I loved the scene with the Hound. He had some great one liners there. I loved that he buried the bodies.
I loved that Sansa gave LittleFinger basically THE FINGER! haha That line "No need to seize the last word, I'll assume it was something clever!" He'll need the Red Woman to recover from that burn.
I LOVVVVVED the scene with Brienne and Tormund. I was giggling like a school girl when he was making eyes at her. I want more of them!!! Love them!!!!
The scene with Sam, well didn't love seeing that montage but it made me laugh. Poor Sam, I was hoping he'd be much further along.
LOVE the lady from Bear Island. She just rocks.
LOVE the ending with Dany coming home. So majestic. I half expected Gendry to be sitting on the throne for kicks!
That ending was great..."Shall we begin." YESSSSS!!!!
The "Hound" owed to the family. HE is the one that robbed them of their silver and left them with no money so that they would starve.

In the books he has a horn, eight or ten feet long, which supposedly calls and helps tame dragons.

Actually it won't be the horn. It's going to be the Sand Snakes and Yara Greyjoy. I believe he captures them in episode 3 or 4 and brings them to Cersei to execute.

Love to see the tread take off!

The intro had me going in the beginning, too. Ah, a flashback. But when Frey started changing his tone, I started paying attention. Brave people who killed a pregnant woman! Etc. What an elegant way to start Season 7 with a bang. And I think the rest of the hour was well spent, as a set-up. We don't need more action in the first episode, we need for everybody to take their places, which they did.

I watched the recap part of the repeat because I hadn't paid attention the first time around. Who needs a recap? But it was actually very useful in its selectivity, especially providing the reason for the Hound's reactions, in case we didn't remember.

I also enjoyed the new animated intro. No more Mereen or Braavos, but we got a new graphic for Oldtown, Dragonstone, and a revised Kings Landing and Winterfell.

I still love The Hound. He's such a weirdly complex character.
I really like The Hound also. He is a very complex character in the books as well as the show. I'm guessing that his burned face, fear of fire and relationship with Beric Dondarrion's Red faith group are setting up some kind of weird destiny. Maybe a final showdown with his "undead brother", the Mountain. Maybe he'll reunite with Arya and help her kill Cersei. The Hound also has a soft spot for Sansa......something covered more in the books.

Jamie Lanister is another complex character, but he is portrayed differently in the books. In the books you start out hating him, but later his relationships with various people lead him on a path to redemption. I don't think the show has done justice to the Jamie character.

It was handled the same way in the series. Our introduction to Jamie was his incestuous relationship with his sister and his emotionally indifferent attempted murder of Brandon Stark. Later we see him murdering his jailer after first befriending him. Jamie did not start becoming sympathetic until paired with Brienne.

I didn't think the Faceless Men could assume the voices of the faces they wore. How did Arya manage to sound exactly like Walder Frey?

Sansa is going to be a real thorn in John's side....it's obvious she wants to be in charge and there will be a huge power play. Her undermining him at the meeting didn't go well at all.

.
She first put on Rich Little's face, and then put on Frey's over that.

This concern should have been somewhat ameliorated by the following scene where she told Jon that she thought he was good at leading.

Jon may have more trouble from his other sister. Arya is out there operating as a free agent, settling scores without consulting anyone. And she is proving frightfully competent at her work. It may be hard for Jon to rein her in if something she is planning conflicts with the larger picture.
