I'm up to episode 7 and wholeheartedly agree. It's well-written enough to be engrossing (especially with the current dearth of content on Netflix), but Bateman and his wife are repellant characters, as are most of their enemies. I do like their two kids, the old man in the basement, and find the curly-haired blonde (trying to impress her daddy) and her bookworm cousin (?) to be the only sympathetic characters so far.
Ditto. I still haven't finished the show, but right now I'm hoping Bateman and his wife, the FBI, the hillbillies, etc. end up at the bottom of the lake and the kids run off with the old man into the woods where they live with bears and birds and live happily ever after.
So strange! I like Marty. I don't think he even got into this on purpose. That guy came to him acting like a regular client. To me he is doing the best he can.

Nah, he knew they were in the business of laundering money for the cartel, he just didn't know his partner and the other guy were skimming on the side. That sex scene with his wife was pretty much where I lost any sympathy left for him, and she's no better.
I watched the series and I don't mean to be contrarian, but I was not all that impressed. I thought Jason Bateman was miscast and I thought many of the scenes too contrived and the story line at times confused. I found myself predicting what will happen next despite the "twists."
Unlike Breaking Bad which had a certain logic and flow, I did not find that in Ozark.
However, I am not totally down on the series, I thought the last episode was the best and there may be hope for it after all.

That ending! Wow! "Rednecks!"
I loved it, Bateman crushed it. I know he does mostly comedies, but it was good to see him in a serious role. I liked him in The Gift, which was a serious movie. he's funny as hell but also good in dramas.

He reminds me a bit of Steve Martin in that he's actually A LOT funnier when he's playing it straight.
Finished four episodes, just not getting into it that much, was really looking forward to it, because the blue cat lodge is a couple miles down the road from me, and was filmed here.
I remember when they were filming here!
That's the only reason I tuned in.
Damn glad I did. Binged over 2 days.
That ending blew me away (ha ha)
I just finished it yesterday. Thought the acting was wonderful. For some reason, Julia Garner (Ruth Langmore) really stood out to me and I thought her character was very complex. Very talented young actress. Harris Yulin as Buddy as well. Solid character actor.
Those Snells, though. The wife especially. Wow, pure evil.
