Primetime: What would you do?
I have been watching this program. They stage different situations to see how people will react. Tonight they placed a young man in a park, sitting on the ground crying and in distress. Then they set it up where people were passing by and took note of who passed him by and who helped him.
It was an interesting experiment. I have also been having my daughter watch it with me in the hopes that she will have an idea of what the best behavior is rather then necessarily what the crowd would do.
Is anyone else watching this?

I haven't heard of it but it sounds very interesting. Kind of like candid camera but with an ethical/philosophical bent?
I think that's a great idea about exposing your daughter to various moral questions. Most people are probably too shocked and unprepared to do anything in those kinds of situations in real-life.
It would be interesting to pause the show and ask your daughter what she thinks of what she is seeing and what she would do before she sees how others react.

I caught the tail end of the show last night where they were having a couple"fight" in the park. first it was a white man with his black girlfriend..and lots of women stopped him and called 911. when it was a black man fighting with the white girlfriend, women were not quite so willing to jump in to stop him, but did hang around to call 911. a big 6'7'' man did stop the guy! the scenarios are interesting. it does make me wonder what i would do?

I guess I'm just crazy but in broad daylight, I would go after him, I don't care what color he is. Of course I would call 911 but no way would I just walk away.
I have asked my daughter what she thinks should be done and she does pretty well with her answers. We also watch In The Life on LOGO where they speak about the persecution that SOME people commit against people who are gay and she is shocked by how unkind some people can be.

I did watch this any really enjoyed it. I saw the episode where they had an employee(actor) in a sandwich shop make very deragatory commments to another muslim actress. People got really offended, but then others gave the man a thumbs up. Also on this episode was a bully situation where three girls were yelling and calling names to a more geeky girl, and a lot of women stopped and resorted to mocking and calling names at the bullies. It was very interesting.

I have seen a few of these shows but I must have missed the latest one. It is a very good show, definitely something to watch with your kids.

That show was eye opening to say the least.

That's the episode I caught and was horrified to see there were some people literally giving the guy behind the counter the thumbs-up for refusing to serve the Muslim woman. I was equally horrified to see some grown women stopping to confront the three teenage girls in the park and actually cursing at them - one even called them bitches, for God's sake. What is wrong with people?!
It's a good show, though. We watched that episode together and talked about what we would do in the same situations.

I was pretty disgusted by that one as well, I wanted to applaud the people who refused to buy from him after seeing how he acted.

I've been watching this show and I love it. I love to see how people react in these kinds of situations. It makes me question myself as to what I would, most likely, do.
