Excellent show.

But IMHO after about the 5th time there was an episode where Hank Moody's daughter is disappointed in him and he has to make it up to her, it can no longer be considered 'great tv'

If I had to pick one. Probably Breaking bad with honorable mentions to Game of Thrones and Stranger Things.

LOVED Fox Terra Nova. The graphics and story line was incredible. Not real sure why they canceled it but since then I no longer will even look at the first year of any new program. I'm not going to get all into a show and then nothing, not even a finale.

Sopranos missed by 1 year (ended 2007)

The Wire makes the cut!

Billions and Homeland are great

But, my favorite is Breaking Bad!

This is a difficult decision because there have been so many.

It's between Six Feet Under and The Good Wife. Six Feet Under's ending was terrific the way they wrote the script. Great job!

In looking back and reading these posts, there have been so many good series. No wonder movies are now on the back-burner, which is unfortunate but TV has given movies a run for their money.

In one small post, you named four of the best series in TV history! If not the top four, certainly a very small subset of it.

Aside: I think part of Game of Thrones legacy will be determined by this last season. And based on everything so far, there's no reason to think it won't finish strong. But if somehow they drop the ball, it can tarnish GoT's sterling (and well-deserved) reputation. Breaking Bad is an example of a show that was considered excellent, then finished with a last season so good, it cemented its place in history as one of the best of all time. I'd love to see GoT do the same.
