That very last image over the cops shoulder to his hand on the steering wheel. We saw his discolored finger nails. That looked to me like it meant something. I don't get what?

Yup no idea either I was wondering that as well.

Edit to add I found this:

Quote:

As for what the bruised fingernails imply, “The fingernails are obviously a sign of the sessions with Sharon and he’s playing out some type of trauma scenario with her, which is what happens with sexual abuse especially,” said Simonds, further elaborating that Ambrose is far from healing but it’s the first time he acknowledged that aspect of himself. “He’s a pretty interesting character. It would be fun to continue to explore him in future seasons, if that’s one avenue we go down.”

At the end of the episode Cora says "I know you did it for your son". What did that mean? I fell asleep through part of the episode.

You should watch it again, but if you don't feel like it, see spoiler below.

Spoiler
The father buried her sister's body, held Cora hostage, shot her up with heroin, brainwashed her and basically screwed her up entirely in order to cover up that his son killed her sister.

::::SPOILER:::::

Frankie's dad had been the one to keep Cora drugged and prisoner in a fearful & mistaken effort to protect his son because her sister died while he was with her (per JDs advice).

That guy with the weird corn rows sticking up in the air--don't know his name--he was barely in it, and I think it had something to with the drug deals.

Finally watched the last episode tonight.

Figured it would all make sense in the end.

Yeah right....

It wasn't dirty or just discolored fingernails, they were bruised from the weird sex lady who steps on them. There was an episode showing her stepping on his already bruised fingertips and him wincing. Nothing seemed resolved about why he was so masochistic to himself -- punishing himself for his part in his bad marriage???

Dumb show for me, bad acting and script. The detective was just too weird, and Cora was not believable for me.
Her sister (Phoebe) was the only really good actor of the series in my view.
