I was used to Big Bang with its laugh track and constant one liners. Young Sheldon is a different kind of funny. It took me a while to get used to, but once I realized it's a different approach, I've enjoyed it more.
Yep, no canned laughters or rapid fire jokes but clever writing so far and great casting.

Expectations were rather low but people are warming up to it fast. That last episode ratings was just a hair short of TBBT's.
CBS has used TBBT as anchor for new shows a number of times over the years yet they all turned out to be duds but it looks like it worked this time.
Actually we do. According to TBBT, Sheldon's father dies when Sheldon is 14.
That may indeed be the case. I recall a previous episode on the tv show Young Sheldon, where his Dad was in the hospital - heart issue. So, he may end up having a heart attack while coaching football team.
I must say I much prefer Sheldon as a kid! He is so annoying as an adult...
Interesting, is it not? The same behavior which makes the adult Sheldon obnoxious, makes the young Sheldon sympathetic. I suspect is is rooted in the strength of the supporting characters. On TBBT, Sheldon is being arrogant and insensitive toward people we like. On Young Sheldon, none of the supporting cast has been as important, we haven't been made to care about them very much, at least not yet.
I'm sure I said way back that the show isn't going to make.
Eating my words now.
Ha, I said the same thing. Based off the previews and the first episode I thought the show would tank, but I’ve been pleasantly surprised. I’ve been enjoying it quite a bit.

I have enjoyed it too and isn't it nice to have our taste in a TV show validated by GS
The show was dreadful tonight. The Sheldon character was was little more than an extra. The plot, the recipe struggle, was something right out of the Andy Griffith Show....Now c'mon Aunt Bee, share your Cherry Pie recipe with Thelma Lou.
In my previous post I mentioned how they hadn't developed the supporting cast very much...well, they remedied that tonight and the result was tedium.
I thought last night was a good episode. Not every week has to be 100% Sheldon. As the writers (and cast) continue to flesh out the family, I hope we continue to see more of them.
Love love love the little sister. She gets the best lines!
Location: Finally the house is done and we are in Port St. Lucie!

I laughed when the sister knocked on brothers door as she was running to her room. Brilliant sneakiness!
