What means?
Netflix?
Hulu?

Too so long because Moss was incredibly busy--
Handmaid's Tale for one thing but other projects as well

Watched last episode of S1 just to reconnect and then first of S2
Seems like Robin is still struggling with her situation
Am I so out of it or are the guys in Australia really into porn--so badly/lamely they have group rating sessions at lunch???
That is sad...just sad...
Didn't realize Nicole Kidman was in this
She probably enjoyed playing someone that was outside her normal wheelhouse metier...

She was supposedly there 4-5 yrs and the excuse was her mother was dying so guess she took leave of absence but still managed to keep her employment status and could go back to her same job when she cut off Johnno...
The conversation at the beach bonfire with the women lead me to think she had had 3 abortions while she was there--because she didn't want to bring a child to term in relationship she knew was fragile...
Which probably was big motivator for her to be so depressed and want to connect with Mary

The question is why are the men in Australia so Neanderthal...
Anyone who would want a relationship with a man that behind the times is doomed to unhappiness--Mary's dad seems reasonable nuanced but he also is letting a guy over 40 sleep with his 17 yr old daughter so don't know that he is a shining star...

Have seen other shows from Australia filmed over probably last 8-10 yrs or so--Crownies, Deep Water, Janet King, A Place Called Home (admittedly set in late 40s), the murder squad show w/matriarch from A Place Called Home---Brokenwood Mysteries (in NZ I think vs Australia)
Have seen some Australian movies---and frankly the social construct just seems totally backward...
I get they were a frontier culture so to speak--but what gives????

Interesting analogy on the Australian culture; I've never thought about it like that, or probably at all. Maybe I've seen too many episodes of The Real Housewives of Melbourne.

Yeah, I was shocked that Mary's father wasn't more aggressive in the beginning with getting her away from that HORROR of a man she thought she was "in love" with. Her adoptive mother was certainly angry enough about it, but their relationship was nearly nonexistent in Mary's mind, so....she certainly wasn't going to listen to her. I also think her father knew in a matter of days she was turning 18, and so what's the use? As soon as she's legal she'll just go right back to him, and he probably figured it wasn't worth the effort. Not to mention that Mary just seemed full of anger, resentful, and tortured all at the same time; her father probably also feared alienating her all together if he fought the boyfriend thing. I guess he'd rather have SOME relationship or contact with her than none, and decided he'd just go along with it, and Mary would get over this guy and things would go back to normal sooner than later.

I do have to say I didn't feel as much closure at the end of this season as I would have liked. All those sex workers boarded a plane with Mary's boyfriend to go where and do what? I suppose too we got the hint of where Robin's relationship was going with her new lover when there was a knock at her door in the closing scene, but whatever...

It definitely was a flashback, I think they were trying to show who the real dad was and that she wasn't raped. At least that's how I interpreted it. Her hair was longer in that scene.

NO---that is not accurate--it was a flashback to why she was in Australia vs in NZ where the first series took place--
It was supposed to wrap up the first series that ended w/her capturing the policeman who facilitated the child sex trafficking going on in that town--he was running the coffee shop as a cover for getting close to young girls to use in porno films and sexual activities--
As Robin said to her boss she did not see HIM/the policeman having sex with any underage girls but they were in his house, filming the drugged kids while they were supposed at a movie--
Guess he felt some compassion for Tui since she recently had the baby and that was why she wasn't in the group photo op

Robin was gang raped at 16 and Johnno was her boyfriend at the time
He saw it happen and did nothing--but he was not one of the rapists
Why she would return to someone like that as an adult I could not understand
He was helpful when she was trying to bring Matt to justice but he was a pathetic excuse for an adult responsible male...
I guess she has dealt with chronic low self-esteem after her rape and went into policing as subconscious desire to prevent it happening to someone else
She is dogged and intelligent about her police work--too bad she can't translate that into helping herself in personal ways...very self destructive behavior...

Plus=
I have not finished S2
Some people might not
I understand others have and I run the risk of knowing about events I haven't watched...

Okay with all you've said, I DEFINITELY need to rewatch season one. Definitely.

Again--
Robin did not know at the beginning of S1 or needless to say when she was younger==
that the man she considered her father was not her biological father
Matt-the creep living on the mountain w/all the kids--tells her that he is her father toward the end of S1
She had been in relationship almost all her life w/one of his son--so she thought she was guilty of incest w/her half brother==
But DNA proved that Johnno was not Matt's son although Matt was Robin's father...
