Actually, they DID say they only ordered a 13-episode season back when they were publicizing the return, mostly because the show was relatively expensive to produce and the star salaries were high.
Not to mention that the star is 72 years old. Anyone who thought she did this because she needed the money is deluding themselves. Reviving Murphy Brown was, of course, to a great extent about contributing to that mechanic I mentioned above.

Thirty years ago, a sitcom driven by political talking points was a novelty and amusing to watch. Now it's little more than SSDD.
The 'new' Murphy Brown was the Miss Havisham of sitcoms, which is why its day is likely done.
Murphy Brown has been canceled, with CBS claiming that it was "always going to be only a 13-episode" [1 season] reboot.
C'mon.
Murphy Brown was not canceled. CBS has not made any formal announcement. The Hollywood Reporter assumed it was canceled because it was not on CBS's spring schedule BUT the show only was given 13 episodes and those will be exhausted by the end of this year. It is not on the spring schedule because it never was supposed to be. Other media outlets jumped on this and reported it as well. Until CBS makes a formal announcement, no one can say the show has been canceled. Jay

I disagree. I liked the show and they just simulated what is happening in our country now. It has a significant point. Jay
Same here. Murphy's take on things is appreciated by this Jay, too. What happened in this and the last episode reflect events and the mood in America today.
It did not cross a line. Bombs were sent to the CNN offices. Bill Mahrer was also on the hit list. Obviously, this was a deranged person who did this, but we can also argue so was the fictional person who beat up the newscaster in this fictional TV show.

It was all one sided. Did the writers forget when left wing protesters went to Tucker Carlson’s home and tried to break in his front door? Aww but of course, people on the left aren’t capable of such things.
