I kept thinking how stupid can you be to let your 4 year old walk away by herself like that. Then, turn your back and get distracted. I never let my little kids wander off like that, ever.

It left me cold. I found the sudden switches from past to present confusing, and for me the end was a total non sequitur. To be fair, I had not read the book and I was expecting more of a crime drama.
