2019- Grace & Frankie; Veep = Netflix

Looks like a calculus formula
2 great reasons to get Netflix in 2019

IF - I haven't forgotten about the shows by then. Just binged both - have to wait SOOOO long now.

I guess I can catch up on Dr. Who and Murdoch Mysteries meanwhile - they also have crazy wait times inbetween seasons

And stay hopeful at least 1 of this years favorite shows comes back - no word yet on Timeless huh?

The seventh and final season of Veep is returning to HBO in 2019. It normally would have aired this year, but JL-D is battling breast cancer, and they've delayed the final season one year. (It was announced that this would be the last season of Veep before her cancer was discovered.)

If you want to watch older seasons of Veep via streaming, then Amazon is the way to go. They have the exclusive rights to Veep.

Do they even offer DVDs by mail any more?

I'm going to guess the vast majority of people who talk about Netflix here are using their streaming service. Was there something in the OP's post that mentioned DVDs, and I missed it?

The problem is that a lot of these streaming shows have fewer episodes per season and in many cases, they're all released at one time. As opposed to broadcast shows that are usually 24 episodes and spread over months. So the wait for a new season feels MUCH longer.

And yes, Netflix still has the DVDs by mail, but most people utilize the streaming service.

I actually binged both shows on DVDs I bought online. Did the same thing with Murdoch Mysteries until I learned Ovation airs it.

The OP mentioned watching Veep through Netflix. A majority of HBO shows are not available to stream through Netflix, they might not even have any. They definitely don't have anything recent. The only way the OP would be able to watch Veep through Netflix was if it was available through DVD.

Veep is on HBO and has had 10 episodes for all but one season, which had 8 episodes. The final season is also supposed to have 10 episodes.

Its pretty typical for HBO shows to have shorter seasons. I prefer the shorter seasons, there typically aren't any filler episodes when the writers have only 10-13 shows to work with.

Never mind Netflix, my shows on both Starz and Showtime (which I have added to my Amazon Prime membership) have these long drawn out wait times before the next season starts as well. I believe this past season it was 1 year 2 months before 'Homeland' returned! Same goes for 'The Affair' and 'Ray Donovan.' Power on Starz took and entire year as well...
