He was the worst. For his short time on the show, until his son replaced him, he just stood there and watched Ashley Del Grosso dance and gyrate in circles around him lol. The poor kid got paired with such losers, I'm convinced that's really why she left the show.
As for unlikeable, don't forget Heather Mills, whose appearance did nothing to redeem her.

Actually, the Houghs lived with Mark's family. Mark's parents were dancers, originally from Houston but living in London at the time. The Houghs' parents were in the middle of a divorce and sent the two pre-teen kids to London, supposedly for a year or two. However, both Derek and Julianne stayed there much longer, Derek for 10 years and Julianne for 5 years, learning dance and forming a musical group with Mark.
Yes, he was very likable! Because he's such a science nerd, I didnt expect him to have such an awesome personality. Who knew he had quit his job at Boeing to focus on a comedy career and really funny stand-up featuring science stuff? I was so sorry to see him leave.

Yes, we've heard that. Hence, my comment about why she really (IMO) left. She's not the only professional dancer to have had babies, either. And she DID return for a season after she'd had a couple of kids. Buti n her short time there, she was paired with more losers than not.
