All right...well, it's been a long year, but finally, the new season of South Park is almost upon us. May this season knock it out of the park unlike the last two or three did. Season 21 was alright, definitely better than 20, but...it wasn't exactly perfect.

First episode comes on in two days, Comedy Central, 10:00 PM Eastern, the standard drill. And the season premiere is going to be one that creates angry headlines, as it targets the subject of school shootings. This episode is titled "Dead Kids", originally titled "Dead People".

While i usually don't mind the political stuff, i feel like it's been pushed a bit too much the last couple of seasons. Hopefully, they dial that back a bit this time around. So far, however, this season's winning me over before it's even aired.

I'm going to be a day behind this year, as I've dropped cable and will have to catch the shows on Thursday on Hulu.

I'm curious as to what they're doing with the #cancelsouthpark thing. Maybe they've just said their goal is to offend as many people as possible, or perhaps they're just going to tackle controversial subjects.. Which, honestly, I think they do better than anyone else.

Last season was.. Meh.. It wasn't horrible.. It had one episode that I would consider a classic in "Put it Down", along with very strong episodes of "Hummels and Heroin" and "Holiday Special".. I'd put "Super Hard PCness" up there, but for the fact that they just dropped dang near everything that happened in that episode. The season was good until they decided to lean back on Trump again with the second half.

Omg... I’m tempted to resurrect this one thread on the Current Events forum, where a poster was saying the Parkland kids weren’t “survivors” unless they were actually shot. Are Matt or Trey incognito on City-Data?

Anyway, I’m looking forward to the premiere! Been a faithful viewer since season one, so they haven’t lost me yet - even if the last few weren’t quite up to snuff.

Oh, and I also watch via Hulu - but I’m always still awake when they add the new episodes at 2am, so will probably catch it then.

This episode did a pretty good job in trying to tackle the difficult subject of school shootings, and being funny at the same time. That's quite a tightrope to walk on, not to mention how they worked in the PMS thing with Sharon. Poor Randy was about as supportive as he could be in this situation, while diligently warning others around them about the problem, doing so incognito. Sad how her concern about the shootings faded at the end, after her special time had passed, hope Stan was OK. I'm sure Butters did the best job he could, as an armed hall monitor, to put down the shooter.

So Token did not see Black Panther? What You Takin' about Willis !! I didn't believe it either, and Cartman's thorough investigation of the matter was quite proper given the circumstances, what he uncovered was shocking.

Not a bad lead off to the season, I'm sure we will soon get to see if Ike gets deported, and how the Canadians are dealing with the nuking of Toronto. As it happens, at the present Canada is in dire straits with the trade negotiations and I'm sure they are nervously watching for any further developments.

Average. Had moments, but overall.. Just OK.

First episodes of the season are seldom good. It's almost like they have too much time to work on them and overthink them.

You have to go back to Season 16 to get a "Good" first episode (Reverse Cowgirl) and Season 15 for a definite classic (Humancentipad).. "Cowgirl" was really good, but maybe a hair below being a classic.

Coincidentally (or not).. Season 16 is also the final 2-part season. Which.. I will once again say I think they should go back to. The long layoffs hurt them.

Now.. Since the single-run started with S17.. Episode 2 has usually been one of the best. Tossing out S17's "Informative Murder Porn" and S20's "Skank Hunt".. we've gotten classics Gluten Free Ebola, Where My Country Gone? and Put It Down..

Did anyone notice? Randy's apparently off the Gluten Free kick.. He's no longer drinking PBR, but had a "John Adams" last night.

It was ok. I did like the Black Panther music when Cartman was lurking about.

I have to admit I laughed when the shooting started and the teacher continued with the math lesson. It was just so ridiculous, but the legitimate and sad point was how blase we've gotten about school shootings.
