Its getting ridiculous, seems like half of all tv shows are now filled with commercials,as many as 15-20 advertizings back to back and on all channels at the same time. ive had it and am looking for an alternative.

As you said, you have a VERY simple solution. STOP watching TV.

Read a book
Take a walk
Clean the house
Go to the mall
Pick up a new hobby
Call your mother
Write a letter to a friend
Research your next vacation

Need more alternatives?

...or an extra $4 to Hulu, which carries almost every TV show in production, one day delayed, and with that commercial-free option.

Yup, it only seems that way.

Average 1hr show has 18mins of comercials (42mins of show). Average 30min show has 9. That isnt that much of an increase from 30/40 years ago. In the 80's most 1hr shows were 49 minutes long with 11 minutes of commercials but remember these shows had 1-2 minute opening and closing credits thast shows dont have now. When you do the math you have only lost 4 mins of content over the past 40 years.

What makes it seems like more is that you have 15 second commercials. You can cram a boatload of those into a single commercial break.

There is also the staging of the commercials. If there are four breaks in that nominal hour (not counting another one between programs) they get progressively longer. The first break might not occur for 10-12 minutes, and might be three commercials long. The last, five to ten minutes before the program end when viewers are fully hooked and only a small minority might flip to something else, might be a dozen commercials long, often with repeats (even back to back repeats) on streaming.

I think the amount of commercial time has remained constant with the time the last 40 years or so. From my observation of course. However the ridiculous amount of commercial breaks during an NFL game is insane.

What, you want to be a jerk about denying NFL every dollar of its billions it can drag out of the pockets of its hypmotized audience?
