Zero, if you pay a few dollars more a month. It's worth much more than (currently) $4 to me.
The commercial-free plan is $11.99/month. I don't need that since there are only a couple shows I want to watch right now. So for the commercial plan I'd like to know how long the commercial breaks are.

Typically the first commercial break will be 30 seconds, then after that they start getting longer. So with an hour show, its typically something like a 30 second break, 60 second, 90 second, and 120 second break. It has a timer in the upper left corner so you always know how long the break is going to be.
But even on the commercial plan, not all shows have commercial breaks. I'm not really sure why that is since it seems to be a mix of old and new shows that do this. Also sometimes you might get the option of watching one long commercial break before rhe episode starts, and then there won't be any more breaks.

I haven't had Hulu with commercials for quite a while, but the shows I watch on commercial streaming (CW, mainly) have both intolerably long and intolerably repetitive commercials.
Most commercial providers now follow the gotcha program, where the first two breaks are short and then there are two that must be 3-4 minutes long if not longer - after they've "gotcha" on the program. CW in particular tends to fill space by running the same 15-second commercial as many as six times in a row.
Neither network streaming nor the secondary streamers like Hulu have the same ad mix as broadcast, and often don't seem to have a full slate of sponsors for any one show, so it's repeat-repeat-repeat. They also game the return to show so that you either flip on the last ten second of a commercial or miss the first few seconds of the show. Yep, you can mute away... but you're either going to pay close attention or miss some of the content. They win.
It's not just "I don't want to watch commercials," but "**********," to me.
But at $5.99 for all Hulu brings, it's a steal. Brilliant move on their part.
I use an antenna for free OTA TV, and Philo ($16/month) for my live cable channels. Philo doesn't carry expensive sports channels so it's nice and cheap and the service quality is outstanding.
