Has anyone noticed that the time they display on their screen is a solid 2.5 minutes faster than the actual time? Although not a third world problem, it has been bugging me.

When I first noticed it, I just though my clocks were off. But then I checked my technology clocks (cell phone, computer, cable box), that adjust on their own. They all matched each other, but were still slower than GMA's clock. Today I turned to The Today Show and sure enough, their time matched mine.

Any ideas why they do this? If it was slower, it could be a ploy not to change the channel when another station might be starting a new show, but I don't get why it's faster.

I can double-check tomorrow, but I believe it's spot on where I am (at least according to my iPhone). Perhaps your local station has it on a delay?

You could be right about that. Don't get why they would do that, but it's certainly possible. The other stations don't do it. Let me know if yours is correct if you remember to look tomorrow.

But now that I'm that I'm thinking about it, a delay wouldn't make sense because the time would be slower not in the future. So I don't think that's it. The GMA time is 2.5 minutes later, so when it's 10:00, GMA is showing it's 10:02.

Sorry, I didn't think that through. LOL! I'll try to remember to look in the morning, but it's pre-coffee, so I can't make any promises.

Spot on here. Maybe about a 30 second difference, but the broadcast (this segment) started when my phone read 7:30, and now both my TV and my phone say 7:32.

If I`m on cable, there is a 30 second difference, then if I am on antenna.....for the same channel.

Actually, that's exactly what I did today. I don't watch either for very long, but I really just want to understand the why of it.
