I don’t think I would have made it through the entire series if I found him unlikeable.

By the way, I need a new series to watch now. What does everyone suggest?

So far I have enjoyed and watched from start to finish The Sopranos and East Bound and Down.

We have Hulu,Netflix and Prime.

Breaking Bad, possibly the best series of all time. Dexter was good as well.

Sharp Objects on HBO. True Detective Seasons 1and 3, also HBO. Season 2 was OK but I found it hard to follow.

Banshee on Cinemax (nudity alert for this one).

Oops, saw you don't have the channels.

Wasn't that the point of the program? Likeable mafioso gangsters living in the New Jersey suburbs?

I think also James Gandolfini was known to be a nice guy, and it came through in the character.

It actually spawned a number of programs internationally about likeable families of criminals--Animal Kingdom and Breaking Bad (U.S.), the Straits (Australia), Spotless (UK), and others.

It's an interesting premise, but there still must be great characters, writing and plotlines. All I can think of is a food analogy--kind of a kettle corn/salted caramel thing going.

Tony Soprano fed ducks and got depressed like an average guy, but also murdered people and chopped them up. Lots of honor among likeable thieves.

Adding to the above we loved Mad Men, Hell On Wheels, Sons Of Anarchy, Weeds, Califonication.

At one point they were on Netflix or Prime. Don't know if they are still available.

I completely agree.

I'd recommend any of the following (but don't know which services are offering them):

Entourage
Rescue Me
Weeds
Breaking Bad
Brotherhood
Nurse Jackie
In Treatment
Californication
The Wire
Curb Your Enthusiasm
Shameless
Louie
The Shield
United States of Tara
Good Girls
The Practice

I liken him to Archie Bunker who has been described as a "lovable bigot". Tony was a "likeable" murderer/racist/sociopath.
