Does anyone remember a scary musical segment from the Carol Burnett Show. I will try to describe it as best as I can remember. All I remember was there was a woman in a bedroom and some kind of mysterious intruder was outside. It was probably some kind of musical production.

I saw it when I was a kid but I didn't really understand it. The original shows were much longer than the reruns they show now, and they included non-comedy stuff sometimes...I think. If anyone knows the show in question I would appreciate more information about the skit, the song, or anything else.

Here's another thing I remember. When the country song "Somebody's Knockin" by Terri Gibbs came out in 1981 I actually thought that it was the song from that sketch. But now I know it couldn't have been because it was written about three years after the show ended. But I guess it must have had a similar feel.

It's entirely possible you're misremembering the skit. More than once I have been absolutely-positively certain about such things (TV skits, movie scenes), only to find them quite different when I run them down. I don't recall CB doing any non-comedic skits, or even dark comedy. Just possibly this was a "funny then" bit that's taken on a darker tone from this era.

I do wish the original shows were available. I occasionally catch one of the hacked ones and besides the obvious missing material, the edits are so abrupt and jarring it's unwatchable.

Yes. I'm sure it could have been comedic, or part of a comedic longer piece.
