Is anyone else annoyed with all the on and off weeks of new episodes in the spring?
A couple of examples. Seal Team, had their fall finale, took the break for December like most shows do. Aired 2 episodes in January and then nothing until March 20.
Gotham had a 2 week gap between last nights episode and the previous episode. Now they have a 4 week gap before airing the final 2 episodes in April. Just air the last 2 and be done with it.
Most the shows I watch have already aired their season finale. I think This IS Us is the only show still on. I haven't noticed any big gaps between episodes apart from the winter break. They did have 2 weeks off in January, but that was because of the State of the Union and then the rescheduled State of the Union. Not the show's fault, or even the network's fault.
There are several reasons why there are gaps. Sometimes the network doesnt want to air a new episode against an award show or politics or sports playoffs, etc. Also remember that the tv season goes from roughly mid-Sept to end of May. Roughly 35 weeks. If a show airs 15-22 episodes you have a lot of down time to fill plus they want to have some eps to air during May sweeps.. Sometimes that is done with reruns or some sort of counter programming or maybe even a new show they want to debut.
All of those shows that are delayed because of the NCAA on CBS. They do this every year. At least the Olympics is every 2 or 4 years.
