I am not impressed. It's like a slasher type Jason movie for a series. Too much blood. I am only tuning in because I really liked the 80's, and looking back at all the fashions, hair, cars, men with short shorts is really funny.

Looks like it's a homage to all the 80's slasher films.

I was wondering when AHS was going to have a season that paid homage to the slasher films. Still a little early to judge it, but this season hasn't started off as well as some of the classic seasons. Plus, this is the first season without any of the really great actors/actresses from the past seasons. There are a few holdovers that continued on, bone not any of the big ones. Jessica Lange or Cathy Bates would have been perfect fits for this season. Shame they are no longer a part of the show. The right connection between the cast is what makes some of the great AHS seasons.

I only recognize two actors from previous seasons, I thought they recycle all of the previous show's actors?

Not always. I was disappointed to find out Evan Peters wasn't coming back for this season. Next season is a possibility. I recognized at least 4 people from past seasons.

There are at least 3 actors from previous seasons in this one. That obviously don't recycle "all" of the previous shows' actors, especially now that they are into the 9th season. Contractual issues, other acting responsibilities, etc, prevent all actors from continuing on.

This is the first season that there are no actors from the original season in it, who continued on in several other seasons (Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Frances Conroy, or Evan Peters). Cathy Bates and Lily Rabe weren't in the original season, but appeared in the majority of the other seasons. They are not in this season either.

The lack of the star power presence of previous seasons' actors in this season is what has also made it a little hard to get into this season, for me personally.

Once they started making it political I lost interest in AHS. I loved the first three seasons though.

AHS Cult was very political, but other than that, I don't remember the other seasons being overly political.

Just listened to a review and there are actually at least 5 previous actors. I recognized 3 previous actors. Didn't realize that the actor who played Twisty the Clown in AHS Freak Show is playing Mr. Jingles this season. Also the guy playing the serial killer had a cameo in AHS Hotel when all the serial killers met up.

In watching episode 1 a second time, I do have to say, it was better to me. Lots of direct homages to the 80s/90s slasher films I missed the first time. Also, I think they are setting up a lot of plot twists, which could make it a really interesting season.
