Yup. Duchovny as Hank Moody is amazing.

Well, Lew Ashby is dead and the sex exploits grew tired on me, as 3 seasons are enough for the same type of humor and scenes.

Other than that, I think season 4 is gonna be depressing.. Hank is forced to deal with the consequences of his actions.. Again, the never ending dance with Karen.
My bets- Hank is going to change - lose his charm and forcedly grow the **** up, hence making the protagonist that lured us all into this series very boring, and in the bitter end Karen and Becca are going to leave LA for Queens, leaving Hank to rehabilitate his mess up, in which he's going to grow old together with Charlie, alone and bitter, doing coke and listening to Nirvana..
The show is simply about one's self-destruction

I ran out of things to binge on (just finally finished Dexter) and there are no new series or episodes on the horizon, so I just started Californication on Netflix. S1E1. Was not that impressed. Does it get better??

I downloaded the first 2 or 3 episodes off of Apple a couple of years back and thought they were only decent. Didn't watch the whole series until recently, if you thought it was ok but not great it might grow on you. I think the fifth season was the best and liked the ending to the series.

The first time I tried to watch it, I got partway through first episode and just quit, it was too sleazy and not intellectually satisfying.
Couple years later, I tried it again-and this time, I was able to stick with it through to the concluding episode a few months back.

I thought it improved-either that, or I eventually grew more "used to" the graphic scenes
(since I'm nearsighted, I'd remove my glasses so as to render the screen blurry).
The nudity was a bit much, IMHO, but the story and characters were entertaining more often than not.
Got a kick out of Richard (whom Karen was with for awhile in a later season), played by Jason Beghe.
