Thumbs down Are CBS Execs Sick?

Is anyone curious about what the execs at CBS were thinking when they put shows about serial killer detectives and swinging 1970's married couples in their line up?

Am I the only one wishing for a return to Carol Burnett and Bob Newhart? What will it take to get these guys to join the "Force?"

P.S. Oh shoot, I think the swinging married couples in the 1970's show is coming on ABC. Correct me if I'm wrong. However, the sentiment is the same regardless of which network airs what: NO MORE CRAP PLEASE!! CBS just seems to be loaded with these grim shows!!

You were right the 1st time, jadybug. Swingtown will be on CBS. I don't think we CAN ever return to the likes of Carol or Bob. That time is past. This society would not "tolerate" the good (almost) squeaky clean likes of any of "our" (babyboomers) types of shows. I don't think the talent is out there either. It is sad and I would like to be able to sit down and enjoy an evening of REAL entertainment again. Sadly I think we are in a minority even if we are the majority of the country!

But I'm only thirty-eight!! And we thirty-somethings are sick and tired of the 50-60+ generation sticking their already proven mistaken mindset (Sex, drugs and bad t.v. programs) on us!! Why do they think the Brady Bunch became so popular? Because all of us kids of divorced, strung out parents wanted to watch something that took our minds off of our reality imposed on us by, you guessed it, "The Baby Boomers!" We wanted Carol and Mike Brady for parents! Weird thought: could it be that the population watching and giving the ratings to these shows are the ones who grew up in a good, happily married two parent home? Or, maybe it has more to do with the, "End Times." Whichever, we'd just love to be heard!!

Crime Drama is a BIG DEAL, unless you haven't noticed, CSI, Law and Order and shows like them are very popular.

As for the swinging 70s couples, I only HOPE that has limited appeal.

I also cannot believe that cbs will put a show like swingtown on tv. They cancel shows that people like and put on this type of stuff or pathetic reality shows. It is no wonder that tv ratings are down.

Heck, I'm only 28 and I remember shows when I was a kid in the 80's were way more clean than the shows today. Remember shows like "Who's the boss?", "Gimme a break", and "Alf"?

Awwwww, I really miss Alf. I loved the show!
I am surprised at the swingers show. Not really that CBS would put it on the air, but in the fact that they think it will draw a large audience enough audience to have a rating at all. Maybe I'm naive, but I don't know of any swingers IRL or of anyone that would be interested in watching the show. Generally I don't care what is on, I just pick another network if it's something I don't care to watch. But in this case, I think it's replacing Moonlight, which makes me very very sad.

I would love to turn on my tv and not see a bunch of half naked people running around doing each other. I'm not really a fan of TV so much anymore. I really liked the Brady Bunch, Little House on the Prarie, etc. I don't need tv shows like dirty, sexy money and the like trying to portray what they think is normal!!!!!!!!!
Not every rich man has a mistress!!!!

I am also a child of the 80's. I am not entertained by the gore and such that is shown on television today.
Whatever happened to Pete Ross and the Happy Trees?!

I just miss tv that my children could still be in the same room with me while I watch it. It doesn't have to be "children's" programming but something that isn't just sex, violence, drugs, etc... at 7pm. It's really hard being in the central time zone as all programming starts an hour earlier.
