The Simpsons in it's prime (about seasons 2-6) had great storylines as well as subtle parody and sarcasm, and is easily better than Family Guy ever was. I do have to agree that Family Guy has been kicking the Simpson's butt this decade though. King of the Hill, during it's prime was also very good. I could never get into South Park or Futurama though. The South Park brand of humour just isn't for me, and Futurama I simply found boring.
I'd have to say (still the test of time) The Simpsons. ONly because Family Guy has gone and "jumped the shark" with all the gay jokes & flashback-reminesce jokes are a bit too stale.
However, I JUST LOVE it when Brian (forgets himself) and regresses to his True Doggy Nature; When he wants to refrain from being turned on by a tennis ball, or when he and Stewie tried to figure out how to use the porcelin toilet, instead of the lawn, and wondering if an Evil Wizard lived in back of toilet, and flushed it, scaring him; barking all the way!
"Hey, didja see that other dog in the car? There's the Park & Look at that! I know that tree, I peed there, hey, hey you dog in the other car; F*CK YOU!!"Doesn't it seem like dogs are saying that to each other when meet n' greets?
"The Simpsons". I find it far more human , "Family Guy" to me got really old and repetitive within about 5 episodes and I find it cruder, more vulgar and trashy.
I can relate to "The Simpsons" warts and all, "Family Guy" I find boring and really predictable. I do love "Stewie" though ( as I do "Roger" in "American Dad").
The Simpsons. Its past its prime but when it was good, it was really good. Family Guy is funny but like everyone else has said, the jokes get old and repetitive after one season. Besides, South Park is much better then either show.
