I have not specifically read the fine print at the end of the show, but I suspect this one is like all the rest of the so-called reality competitions, in that the final word on who is eliminated is the producers', not the judges'. The decision is therefore not based on merit, but on what creates the most lively series. Tracee creates conflict; conflict is good tv; Tracee stays. I still watch, but my enjoyment is somewhat diminished by knowing we're being manipulated. (Hell's Kitchen, by the way, seems the most clumsily manipulative and contrived, so much so that I can't even watch it any longer.)

Michael is looking better and better to me. Starting to become a class act. Hope he stays that way! He may get a vote from me after all!

Matt and Mickey V are my favorites but I agree that there has not really been a lot of style shown so far. I think that is why Cynthia Rowley said what she did about taking some risks. It seems like everyone is playing it safe.

I agree 100%, Bookmen. I'm seeing a pattern in many "reality" shows. There is always one villain who stays on, barely slipping under the radar. Said Villain is eliminated fairly close to the last episode (or whenever we get to the final 2). Thus, drama and conflict is maintained throughout the series and viewers are drawn back week after week to see what sort of fireworks and mayhem Villain will create.

Watching to see if my observation is correct has now become a little mini-game for me. So far, DS is running true to form (remember Rob from last year or Temple from Season 1?) as did Hell's Kitchen (see how long Jen lasted?). Let's see if this year's DS breaks the mold and eliminates Tracee (designated Villain) early .

But if you remember the audition show -- they were very impressed with Tracee. I think they're waiting to see an individual product from her. They must take into account those original meetings and their story boards when making their decision. Personally, I can't stand Stephanie and Jennifer. If I have to watch Stephanie cry more I will scream. And Tracee and Jennifer's room as a disaster but it was never clear where the vision was coming from. It was a complete mishmash of their styles, not cohesive at all. Even though Mikey V and Stephanie were in the top, I thought their room sucked too. She just wanders around aimlessly. How does she actually complete a job in the real world?

This is exactly what I thought when they made that elimination. "Ah ha. So Tracee makes more exciting tv so Tracee stays....to heck with talent." Really ticks me off.

i can't stand tracee. she makes me not want to watch. she should have definitely been off. she hasn't done anything!!! i looovvvveeedd the black room and i think those two guys are the stand outs thus far. but honestly, i don't any of them are just wonderful. these are supposed to be the best of the best? none of them are anywhere near as good as candice's or even lisa laporta's rooms!! it's frustrating for me to watch. and i may ruffle some feathers, i hope not, but i don't care for kim myles or her show. she hasn't turned out as well as david bromstad. i like him, but think it's weird how they make him wear barely anything for his show. we like him for his design, not his muscles and tattoos!!

you all like this season of the show? and how about the fake ghost in the house? that was kind of cheezy.

Yes, I thought it was cheesy too. I liked it better when they were in small rooms. It was easier to see their design style. They spend all their time just painting those big rooms.

definitely. and the wallpaper? that's unfair. they should at least have someone paint it for them while they go shop or something.

i think they should also give them the option of working straight through without stopping and see who sleeps and who doesn't. that tells a lot too. haha.

Now THIS I can agree with 100%. That is EXACTLY what all of us did in college in Interior Design especially at the end of the semester when projects were due and it was "crunch time". Three straight days of NO SLEEP! Yeah, those were the days.
